Vietnam boosts multifaceted cooperation with Israel

Vietnam treasures and wants to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Israel. President Tran Dai Quang made the remarks on Monday at a reception for Israel's Ambassador to Vietnam Meirav Elon Shahar.

Quang said he hoped the two countries would work more closely to strengthen bilateral ties. He asked Israel to support Vietnam in agriculture and climate change response. President Quang said Vietnam would support Israel at multilateral forums and urged Israel to support Vietnam's bid to become a non-permanent member at the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.

Ambassador Meirav Elon Shahar said the current two-way trade of 2.3 billion USD was not on par with the two countries' potential. She said she hoped the two countries would sign a free trade agreement soon.
