Vietnam Card Day promotes non-cash payment

 The 2nd Vietnam Card Day opened at Bach Khoa stadium in Hanoi on Saturday evening to promote cashless payment by using digital payment methods in line with the national digitalization strategy in the banking sector. The two-day Festival are featuring more than 20 commercial banks, financial organizations, international card organizations, and 70 booths of various sectors including food, education, and other commodities.

The Festival introduces cashless payment technology such as QR code, digital banking, and customers’ electronic identification technology.

So far Vietnam has more than 1.8 million accounts and 1.5 million cards using eKYC method.

Non-cash payment activities through electronic channels have grown strongly in the past five years, for example transactions via mobile phones increasing 50%-80% per year, via the internet 35%-40% per year, and 66% of adult population having bank payment accounts.
