Vietnam contributes to UNSC debate on Women, Peace and Security

The UN Security Council on Tuesday opened a debate on Women, Peace and Security, preparing to mark the 20th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

Under the UNSC Presidency of South Africa, this year's discussion drew 90 UN members.

Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the UN Dang Dinh Quy hailed the tireless efforts of UN members and international organizations in implementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda. He highlighted the participation of women in all previous peace efforts and post-conflict reconstruction. Ambassador Quy shared Vietnam's experience in expanding the role of Vietnamese women in war recovery efforts, including cleaning up bombs and mines and helping localities affected by landmines to develop sustainably.
