Vietnam focuses on digital platforms to aid digital transformation

The Ministry of Information and Communications is now focusing on developing digital platforms for digital transformation, said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung at the National Assembly’s Q&A session on Friday.

Mr. Hung answered lawmakers’ questions about the application of IT to state management, building digital government, and management of subscribers, websites, and online platforms, among others.

“This year we put into operation 52 digital platforms nationwide and set up a website to guide ministries and localities in digital transformation. We also started a Vietsolutions contest to find innovative technology products, solutions, and ideas that can integrate into the National Digital Transformation program.”

Minister Hung said Vietnam’s IT sector needs 3 million workers, but is short 1.8 million.

“We are planning to promote digital transformation in education. This year the Ministry of Education and Training will license digital universities on a pilot scheme. We have launched One Touch, an online training platform, which already has around 10 million users. We will also launch online digital training platforms to popularize digital transformation,” he said.
