Vietnam, India boost cooperation in defense studies

PANO Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy, Director General of the Indian Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses on March 6 at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense

The host held that as the defense relations between the two countries have seen fine developments, the two countries should continue making efforts to intensively promote the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in various areas, including defense relations.

The host suggested that the Vietnamese Institute for Defense Strategy and the Indian Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses make more quality analyses of the regional and world situations to help leaders of the two countries devise effective measures to enhance bilateral defense relations, contributing to peace, stability and development of each country and the region.

The guest, in his second visit to Vietnam since 1999, expressed his impression at the changes of Vietnam. He informed the host of the results of the working session between the Indian delegation and the Vietnamese Institute for Defense Strategy. He affirmed that India highly appreciates the relations with ASEAN, including Vietnam, and hoped to see more cooperation with ASEAN as Vietnam assumes the chair of ASEAN in 2020.
