Vietnam makes great efforts in implementing gender equality targets

Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai had a working session with Ambassadors and Heads of Agencies Gender Policy Coordination Group in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Mai hailed the contributions of the ambassadors and representatives of international organizations in promoting bilateral relations between Vietnam and other countries. She said the labor market in Vietnam is improving, adding that Vietnam has made great efforts in implementing gender equality targets. Mai said implemented policies have made significant contributions to raising public awareness on creating equal chances for female workers.

Kamal Malhotra, Co-chair of the group and Resident Coordinator of the UN in Vietnam, said he wants to study Vietnam's stance and the promotion of gender equality in the amended Labor Code, particularly in empowerment for women, gender equality, and female workers, harmony of the retirement age between men and women, and regulations on sexual harassment and gender-based violence at working place.
