Vietnam marks Russia’s National Day

An event celebrating Russia National Day was co-hosted by Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Russian Embassy in Vietnam in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov said the Vietnamese and Russians have special sentiment to each other. He expressed his hope of strengthening bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in politics, trade, science, technology, and people exchange.

Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said this year's Russia Day coincides with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship. He said it is a great event, heralding an important development stage of bilateral ties. He said: Over the last 25 years, Vietnam and Russia have maintained strong political trust. Our economic, trade, and investment ties have recorded breakthroughs, with Vietnam being the first country to sign a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. In addition to traditional cooperation fields like oil, gas, education, and training, partnerships in new spheres have also been expanded, bringing practical benefits to both sides.

The classical ballet Giselle was performed at the Hanoi Opera House to mark the event.
