Vietnam posts 1.86-billion-USD trade surplus in June

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 1.86 billion USD in June, almost four times the 500 million USD predicted by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.  So far this year, Vietnam’s total export revenue was 122.8 billion USD while it spent 117.3 billion USD on imports, resulting in a trade surplus of 5.46 billion USD.

Vietnam’s major earners were computers, electronic devices and spare parts, mobile phones and spare parts, garments, textiles, and footwear.

A trade surplus will he helpful to Vietnam’s foreign exchange reserves, international balance of payments, and the VND exchange rate. This was a particularly encouraging result for a period in which the COVID-19 pandemic was devastating markets.
