Vietnam receives record number of foreign tourists

1.2 million foreign tourists visited Vietnam in February, representing a 42.2% year-on-year increase.

Minister and Head of the Government Office, Mai Tien Dung, told a press conference following the regular government meeting on March 1st that the record high number of foreign tourists was thanks to various activities held during Vietnam's spring festivals:"The tourism sector continues to grow with 2.2 million foreign tourists since early this year, or 33% rise. This is a positive start to achieve the national yearly target of 11.5 million tourists."

Asian visitors make up 1.5 million of international arrivals, with China, South Korea and Japan taking the lead. Russian tourists top the list of European visitors, accounting for 26% increase.
