Vietnam respects cooperation exchanges for mutual benefit with Hong Kong (China )

Vietnam wants to promote cooperation for mutual benefit with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China as soon as the Covid-19 pandemic is under control and the door reopening policy is in place. Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that Vietnam and Hong Kong (China) have seen robust development in economic, trade and tourism ties with 18% increase of trade revenue last year, generating 13.6 billion USD dollars.

Ms. Hang said: “Hong Kong is now Vietnam’s 5th largest investor while Vietnam ranks 7th in trade relations with Hong Kong and its 2nd largest trade partner in ASEAN. People exchanges have been growing. We had 20 daily commercial flights before the pandemic outbreak. In 2019, more than 50,000 visitors from Hong Kong visited Vietnam. Given major cooperative potential and need for reopening after the pandemic, we believe that Vietnam – Hong Kong cooperation will grow further, especially in economic, trade, investment, finance and tourism.”
