Vietnam, Russia elevate comprehensive strategic partnership

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will begin an official visit to Russia next Monday at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In an interview granted to VOV’s reporter in Russia, Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said the visit will deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in all aspects.

“The visit affirms the close relationship between Vietnam and Russia, implementing the foreign policy set by the 13th National Party Congress, a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralisation for the sake of the nation, and world peace and stability,” said Mr. Khoi.

He added, “Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with Russia, which is a priority of Vietnam’s foreign policy and a key partner of Vietnam. The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s support for Russia in a changing world, will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in COVID-19 prevention, especially in joint research and production of COVID-19 vaccines and medicine and sharing of experience in disease prevention and control, and will promote cooperation in politics, economy, security, defense, oil, gas, education, training, and people-to-people exchanges.”
