Vietnam Sea and Islands Week begins in Ca Mau

The annual Vietnam Sea and Islands Week is launched in Ca Mau province on Wednesday.

This year's event, themed Our oceans, our future, will feature meetings, beach clean-ups, aquatic-products from the RAMSAR area, and a donation of gifts and medicines to soldiers and civilians on Hon Chuoi island.

Vu Si Tuan, Deputy Head the General Department of Vietnam Sea and Islands said the event helps Vietnam promote its marine economy and protect the resources of its sea and islands. The event is also an opportunity for Vietnam to foster strategies for developing the marine economy, safeguard national sovereignty, and to raise public awareness on environmental protection.
