Vietnam, Singapore strengthen defense ties

Vietnam and Singapore agreed to work closely to strengthen bilateral defense ties at the 13th Defense Policy Dialogue on Friday in Singapore.

Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and Permanent Secretary of the Singapore Defense Ministry Chan Heng Kee, co-chaired the dialogue.

The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges and enhance cooperation in human resources and cooperation between naval and air forces and coastguards.

 

They will also expand cooperation in cyber security, maritime security, digital transformation, and response to newly emerging diseases, and promote consultation and mutual support within the military-defense framework of ASEAN. They also signed a cooperation work plan for the 2023-2025 period.

 

Earlier Mr. Chien also called at Senior Minister of State for Defense Heng Chee How at Ministry of Defense and visited the Information Fusion Centre at Changi Naval Base.
