Vietnam targets 10 billion USD in two-way trade with Russia by 2020

Vietnam consistently prioritizes strengthening its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting with visiting Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Mr. Phuc called for effective implementation of the Vietnam-Eurasia Economic Union Free Trade Agreement to raise bilateral trade between Vietnam and Russia to 10 billion USD by 2020. He said Vietnam sees Russia as a prioritized partner in military technology cooperation and wants to boost defense and security ties with Russia.

Chairwoman Matviyenko said both countries should increase delegation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges to make full use of their potential. She stressed that Russia wants to expand cooperation with Vietnam in petrochemistry and liquified gas production.
