Vietnam will resume inbound and outbound tourism from March 15 under new normal conditions as Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Wednesday agreed with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s proposal on reopening. He asked the Ministry to announce a detailed reopening plan to be applied nationwide.

Foreign tourists arriving in Vietnam do not need book tour packages with designated travel agencies as per the ongoing vaccine passport trial program launched in November last year, according to the proposal.

All tourists from age 12 must be fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19. They will also need proof of a negative COVID-19 test before the flight into Vietnam, valid within 24 hours with rapid antigen tests and 72 hours with PCR tests.

When entering Vietnam, international visitors must pay an insurance premium of about 30 USD per person to enjoy the insurance rate of 10,000 USD in case they have to be treated for COVID-19 in Vietnam.
