Vietnam treasures its strategic partnership with Japan

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Japanese Ambassador Kunio Umeda in Hanoi Friday to discuss preparations for the PM's upcoming official visit to Japan.

Ambassador Kunio Umeda said Japan wishes to invest in energy projects in Vietnam such as environmentally friendly coal-fired or liquefied natural gas-fired electric power plants. He said Japan is willing to help Vietnam in auto industry with a focus on small-and medium-sized enterprises. PM Phuc affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to enhancing the strategic partnership with Japan. During the visit, the PM is scheduled to hold talks with his counterpart Shinzo Abe, meet with leaders of Japan's National Diet and political parties, and deliver speeches at the Asia Future Conference and an investment promotion conference.
