Vietnam visit by Japanese Emperor and Empress marks a historic event

The visit of Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko to Vietnam beginning February 28 will be an important landmark in Vietnam-Japan relations. Hatsuhisa Takashima, Press Secretary of the Japanese Emperor, told the Vietnam News Agency that the two countries have promoted various activities to tighten bilateral friendship.

As the biggest donor for Vietnam, Japan has been supporting Vietnam to boost Vietnam's development. He said the Japanese Emperor and Empress were moved by Vietnamese leaders' enthusiastic invitation. He said the Emperor is the symbol of Japan and their visit to Vietnam, a country with a close relationship with Japan, will be a historic visit.
