Vietnam wants stronger trade ties with Myanmar

Vietnam applauds Myanmar’s structural reforms and impressive economic growth last year, and wants stronger economic, trade, and investment ties with Myanmar moving forward. The statement was made by Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other international groups, at the second review of Myanmar’s trade policies and practices held from Monday to Wednesday at the WTO’s headquarters in Geneva.

Ambassador Mai hailed Myanmar’s positive response to regional integration, working with ASEAN, the Republic of Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and China to finalise negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), an important milestone in the region’s trade co-operation.
