Vietnam, West Virginia bolster cooperation for economic recovery

It’s time to work simultaneously on economic recovery and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said Thursday during an online talk with Carol Miller, US Congresswoman from West Virginia’s 3rd congressional district.

Minister Anh said trade cooperation and investment between Vietnam and the US have been thriving, with two-way trade totaling 77 billion USD in 2019 and 19 billion USD in the first quarter of 2020. Vietnam and the US have devised an action plan to achieve sustainable and balanced trade between the two countries, he said, adding that the Vietnamese Government has given priority to improving Vietnam’s investment climate and creating optimal conditions for US projects.

Ms. Miller said West Virginia and Vietnam share a common goal of enhancing trade connections, especially energy, coal, and liquefied gas. She pledged to do her utmost to promote Vietnam’s image in the US.
