Vietnam Wrestling Association inaugurated

The Vietnam Wrestling Association made its debut in Hanoi on Sunday.

The Association Congress elected Ly Duy Thanh, Vice Chairman of Gia Lam district People's Committee President of the Association and his four deputies. Tran Duc Phan, deputy head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, said: The organization of the Congress to establish the Vietnam Wrestling Association marks a remarkable change of generations of cadres, coaches, and athletes. Wrestling is an Olympic sport event. Over the past years, Vietnam's wrestling has developed strongly both in public movements and competitive tournaments. The traditional wrestling has become indispensable in national and local festivals. Wrestlers' achievements have been acknowledged regionally and globally.

Vietnamese wrestlers are always in the top ranks of the Southeast Asian Games. They won silver medal in Asian Games (ASIAD 16) in 2010.
