Manila - The Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar has developed comprehensive plans to protect and ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens in northern Myanmar, following recent complex security developments in the region. This initiative comes in response to the escalated security situation and is in line with guidance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Vietnam.
According to Vietnam News Agency, it has actively engaged in discussions with local authorities in Myanmar, seeking their support to safeguard Vietnamese nationals. The embassy's efforts are focused on ensuring the security and safety of its citizens and facilitating their departure from the affected areas if necessary. Meanwhile, the MoFA has been in contact with the relevant authorities in China and Myanmar to seek their assistance in protecting Vietnamese individuals in the region.
The MoFA has issued an advisory for Vietnamese citizens, recommending that they avoid travel to or residency in the Shan, Kayin, and Rakhine states unless absolutely necessary. Those currently residing in these areas are advised to have plans for the safe evacuation of themselves and their assets to a third country or to return to Vietnam. The citizens are also urged to stay regularly informed by monitoring updates from the Myanmar authorities and the MoFA, including the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar, to be able to respond promptly to any developments.
In case of emergencies, Vietnamese citizens in Myanmar can reach out to the embassy's citizen protection hotline at 959660888998 or the MoFA's Consular Department at 84 981 84 84 84; 84 965 41 11 18. They can also contact the MoFA via email at email@example.com for assistance and support.
