Vietnamese ethnic groups through the eyes of a French photographer

35 photo portraits of Vietnamese ethnic people are being showcased in the Precious Heritage exhibit at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

The photos, taken by French photographer Rehahn, include portraits of Vietnamese grandmothers and children from several different ethnic groups. Rehahn, who spent 6 years visiting Vietnam's 48 ethnic groups, said he hopes Vietnamese people and foreign friends will learn something about Vietnamese culture from the story behind each photo.

Nguyen Quang Trong, Director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, said: This photo collection is very valuable. The photographer had to overcome the language barrier to get close to the people and take these intimate pictures. Rehahn's photos are soulful and fascinating. They will be added to an album of Vietnamese ethnic groups at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

The exhibit will run until October 1 in the Trong Dong building at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
