Vietnamese students in RoK on the rise

The number of Vietnamese students going to the Republic of Korea to study has reached over 37,430 this year, an increase of more than 10,000 in comparison to last year, according to statistics released by the RoK's universities and education institutions.

With Vietnamese students increasingly looking to study in the RoK, the trend is predicted to continue due to the increasing number of Korean businesses investing nationally, the popularity of Korean dramas and K-pop music among young people, in addition to the success of national team coach Park Hang-seo. The number of Vietnamese students accounts for 23.4 per cent of total foreign students in Korea, a 14-fold increase compared to 2009.
