Vietnam’s Chamber of Commerce urges for stronger trade with Turkmenistan

The 0.56 million USD trade revenue between Vietnam and Turkmenistan last year did not match the two countries’ cooperation potential, according to an official of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). VCCI Vice President Bui Trung Nghia told a business forum on Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Turkmenistan diplomatic ties that Vietnam can export multiple products to the Central Asian country.

“Turkmenistan is rich in natural gas and has the advantage of growing natural cotton and producing all kinds of carpets. Vietnam can export a lot of products such as phones, computers, machines, spare parts, consumer products, textiles, footwear, wood furniture, and agricultural products. Vietnam’s export products can meet Turkmenistan’s import demand,” he said.

Delegates stressed the need to create a favorable legal environment for bilateral economic and trade cooperation and exchange information on market, businesses, goods, and possible opportunities in oil and gas.

Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev proposed that both sides form multi-channels for agricultural, industrial, and service cooperation.
