Vietnam is evolving rapidly in information technology and telecommunications (ICT) and devising a strategy to continue growing, said Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Department. 

Vietnam has surpassed many IT powerhouses already, Tuyen said on Thursday at a dialogue called “Virtual Talk: Why Vietnam” on the sidelines of International Telecommunication Union Digital World 2021. He said Vietnam ranks second globally in phone production and export, accounting for more than 13% of the global market, and is also high in electronics production and export.

At the virtual talk, representatives from IT enterprises discussed Vietnam’s role in the global technology supply chain, its e-commerce policies, and its domestic enterprises’ innovation capacity.
