Vietnam’s navy to participate in 2018 RIMPAC
8 Vietnamese navy officers will join some activities of the 2018 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise, one of the world's largest multinational naval drills held every two years.
Next month's exercise will include disaster relief, maritime control and drills. This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese navy to improve its coordination capacity in humanitarian and disaster relief, and search and rescue. Vietnam sent observers to RIMPAC 2012 and 2016. RIMPAC, which was first held in 1971, is aimed at promoting naval cooperation among countries and stability in the region.
