Vietnam’s Prime Minister Launches New Academic Year at VNU-HCM

Ho Chi Minh City - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony marking the start of the new academic year at the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), a premier institution for higher education and scientific research in Vietnam. In his address, PM Chinh underscored the critical role of higher education and innovation in national development, emphasizing the importance of high-quality human resources.

According to Vietnam News Agency, The Prime Minister highlighted the changes and developments in higher education due to digital transformation and the fourth industrial revolution. He pointed out the trend of global cooperation and transnational learning in higher education, emphasizing its role in promoting creative thinking and equipping students with necessary skills. Chinh urged educational institutions, including VNU-HCM, to focus on training talents and promoting sustainable economic development. At a subsequent meeting with VNU-HCM leaders, he advised the university to align its training programs with the regional and national development needs and to prioritize research and problem-solving. The VNU-HCM, with its extensive network and academic resources, aims to be among Asia's top 100 higher education institutions by 2030.
