Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Tong Thi Phong on August 9 held talks with First Vice President of Cambodia's Senate Ney Pena in Ha Noi on the occasion of the Cambodian leader's official visit to Viet Nam from August 8-9.

Ms. Phong welcomed the Cambodian delegation's official visit to Viet Nam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (June 24, 1967), which is expected to strengthen the neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides.

At the talks, the two sides kept each other updated on the political, economic and social performances as well as the economic, trade and investment relations between the two nations over the recent years.

The Vietnamese legislative body will expand and improve the efficiency of collaboration between the Governments and people of Viet Nam and Cambodia, as well as their NAs at regional and international parliamentary-forums, affirmed the Vietnamese leader.

Mr. Ney Pena expressed his thanks to the Party, State and people of Viet Nam for their support to Cambodia during the country's times of difficulty as well as in the cause of national construction and development.

The guest stressed Cambodia's determination to preserve the Viet Nam-Cambodia relationship, regarding this as a valuable asset shared by the two nations.
