VGP – Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Truong Manh Son proposed setting up a Viet Nam-Czech Trade Promotion Centre in Prague to bolster economic links while meeting with around 20 Vietnamese business community representatives in the Czech Republic.

He made the recommendation at a recent meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese business community in the Czech Republic.

The business representatives underlined the need to establish the centre, saying the lack of updated information led to the failure of many Czech firms in Viet Nam.

In the first half of 2014, trade between the two countries reached $652 million, in which Viet Nam’s trade surplus accounted for 86%, Son said.

The Vietnamese diplomat said Viet Nam is among 12 priority markets of the Czech Republic to 2020, and is the only Asian country in the list.

At the same time, the Czech government wants to reduce its trade deficit with Viet Nam.

Mr. Son urged the Vietnamese enterprises in the Czech Republic to better perform their role as a bridge for the promotion of trade between the two nations.
