VN defence delegation works with UN Mission in Central Africa

VGP –  Deputy Chief of the General Political Department Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia led a delegation to the Central African Republic from February 28 to March 6.

During the trip, the delegation visited some peacekeeping units of other nations in central Africa and conducted a field survey aiming to accelerate the deployment of Vietnamese forces involved in UN peacekeeping operations.
The Ministry of Defence launched the Viet Nam Peacekeeping Centre in Ha Noi on May 27, 2014, marking the country’s official participation in the United Nations operation.
Viet Nam has planed to set up a level 2 field hospital and a company of sappers based on UN guidelines in order to take part further in the UN’s peacekeeping efforts and sent two officers to the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) since last June.
