VN exports 4.7 million tons of rice in first half

VGP – Viet Nam delivered 3.003 million tons of rice to its customers abroad in the first half, worth US$1.367 billion.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade revealed that as of June this year, Vietnamese rice enterprises signed contracts to export 4.7 million tons of rice.

China was the largest importer, accounting for 40.46% of the total, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Over the first five months of the year, the rice export to the Philippines witnessed a sharp increase in both volume (2.65 times) and value (2.69 times) compared to the same period last year.

The Philippines ranked second among the largest rice importers of Viet Nam, accounting for 20.66% of the total, followed by Ghana (4.39%) and Singapore (3.63%).

Recently, the Philippine Government decided to import additional 200,000 tons of Vietnamese rice for the stock of the National Food Authority.
