VN-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation holds sixth meeting

VGP – The sixth session of the Viet Nam–Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation was held in Ha Noi on March 13.

The two sides reviewed the implementation of their cooperation reached at their fifth session, discussed key cooperative issues, and sought measures to strengthen the cooperation in terms of economics, trade, science and technology and raise the two-way trade turnover.

They also discussed ways to accelerate affiliation in other areas, including industry, health, agriculture, water supply, education and training, environmental protection, tourism, infrastructure development and national security.

The two sides were unanimous in proposing measures for stronger cooperation such as issuing mechanisms and policies for enterprises to enhance economic, trade and investment partnerships as well as exchanging and providing information about policies, laws and market.

According to the Viet Nam Customs, the two-way trade turnover in 2014 reached more than US$175 million, up nearly 19% against the previous year.

Viet Nam’s exports and imports from Hungary attained US$55 million and US$120 million, respectively.
