VN invests in 128 projects in Cambodia to date

VGP – The country has 128 investment projects in Cambodia with a total capital of $49.6 million.

These figures were announced in a meeting between Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh and his Cambodian counterpart Chhay Than in Ha Noi on March 10.

At the meeting, the two officials agreed on the necessity of developing human resources for the statistics sector and upgrading Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle portal.

Measures to further boost ties between the two countries’ministries in 2015 were also discussed.

The main investment in both countries is energy, hydro-power and agriculture (rubber, coffee and sugar cane plantation).

This year, the Viet Nam-Cambodia bilateral trade revenue is forecasted to hit US$5 billion.

Minister Vinh said that Viet Nam’s economy is clearly recovering by targeting a growth rate of 6.3% and an inflation rate of less than 5% in 2015.

Mr. Chhay Than introduced Cambodia’s economy with an annual GDP of over 7% during the 2010-2014 period, average inflation of 3-4% per annum and ensured food security.

The both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in developing Cambodia’s statistical manpower and upgrading online information channels in the ‘golden triangle’ area between Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia.
