VN, Norway enhance cooperation in aquaculture

VGP – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries have signed several memoranda to accelerate their cooperation in the aquatic sector.

During a recent official visit to Norway, MARD Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam held a working session with Norwegian Deputy Minster of TradeIndustry and Fisheries Amund Dronen Ringdal.

The two officials signed the working minutes regarding science-technology cooperation in testing aquatic products, supervising food safety and quarantine, offshore fishing and sustainable management of fisheries resources as well as adaption to climate change in aquaculture.

The Norwegian side will consider granting scholarships for Vietnamese specialists and professionals in fisheries to study at Norwegian universities.

The two sides agreed to boost trade by encouraging their businesses to enhance two-way trade in fisheries in the EU and create favorable conditions for their enterprises to seek cooperation in shipbuilding, exploiting aquatic resources and providing equipment for offshore fishing.
