VN, Rok enhance cooperation in medical tourism

VGP - Tourism companies in the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Ha Noi have enhanced cooperation to diversify tourist products for the latter's visitors.

The program, a collaboration between Hanoitourist, New Horizon Palliation Care Center, Dowoo Tour and Korean top hospitals, offers not only high-quality healthcare services but is also a relaxing break at several famous attractions.

Tourists will have six days in Korea to visit famous places in Seoul and Daegu such as GyeongbokPalace, Gwanghwamun Square and Insadong -- the best shopping street in Korea for tourists.

In addition, this travel package also provides tourists with health check-up services, including blood test, eye test, electrocardiogram and X- ray.

Recently, the Hanoitourist Travel Company (Hanoitourist) officially signed a partnership agreement with Vietnamese and Korean partners to launch medical tourism products for the first time in Ha Noi.

With the launch, Vietnamese tourists can experience Korean tourism that combines treatment from the top Korean hospitals.

According to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, the number of visitors from the Republic of Korea to Viet Nam has increased sharply over recent years. If 53,452 Korean visitors travelled to Viet Nam in 2000, this number increased to 1.55 million in 2016. The growth rate in 2016 was 37.8%.

The number of Korean tourists visiting Viet Nam in the 11 months of this year was 2.158 million, up 55.3% year-on-year.

The Republic of Korea ranks second in terms of arrivals to Viet Nam, behind only China. It has become a new target market for Viet Nam's tourism sector thanks to growing bilateral ties, favorable air routes, and Viet Nam's visa waiver policy for the Republic of Korea nationals.

Viet Nam has recently also taken part in many events in the RoK, such as the 32nd Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA) held in Seoul in June, to promote tourism.

The number of Vietnamese tourists to the Republic of Korea has also increased. As of November 19, Korea welcomed more than 300,000 Vietnamese tourists, signifying an annual rise of 29.9 per cent even without December. The number of Vietnamese tourist arrivals is expected to reach 330,000 in 2017, according to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Viet Nam.

With a rapidly increasing inflow of tourists in 2017, Viet Nam now ranks 8th in terms of arrivals to the Republic of Korea, moving up two places since last year.
