VN's coffee favoured in Singapore

VGP – Vietnamese coffee accounted for one-fourth of Singapore’s total coffee import volume in 2014, marking its strong foothold in the regional market.

Annual export revenue of Vietnamese coffee and tea to Singapore grew 68% per year on average from 2012 to 2014. Last year alone, it reached $102 million, Vietnamese Trade Counsellor in Singapore Nguyen Viet Chi said.

Singapore is a gateway to several potential markets for Viet Nam, she added.

Popular Vietnamese trademark Trung Nguyen Coffee has gained local favour for its good quality reputation after 8 years of operating in Singapore.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to expand Arabica coffee acreage to 40,000 hectares by 2020, representing 8% of the country’s total area under coffee cultivation.
The coffee industry contributes about 3% of Viet Nam’s GDP and generates more than 2.5 million jobs.
