The rate of coronavirus spread in the world is decreasing, Maria Van Kerkhove, an expert of the World Health Organization (WHO), said at a briefing.
“This is a good moment to highlight the fact that we see a decrease in the number of incidents in some countries,” she said.
According to the expert, this was achieved thanks to measures that interrupt the transmission chain, primarily vaccination.
At the same time, Kerkhoven urged countries where the number of new cases of COVID-19 is decreasing to continue to monitor compliance with sanitary measures.
According to worldometers.info, as of Sunday morning, the world has recorded more than 106 million COVID-19 cases and more than 2.3 million deaths.
