World economy to exceed 100 trillion USD by 2022

The world’s economic output will exceed the 100 trillion USD mark for the first time in 2022, despite the prolonged impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the annual report of the Center for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) published on Sunday. The London-based CEBR forecasts that global GDP in 2022 will be higher than pre-pandemic levels and will top 100 trillion USD for the first time. In 2020, the CEBR projected that the world economy would reach this milestone by 2024. Analysts say that, despite the Omicron variant, countries around the world will impose less restrictive measures thanks to much improved immunity. The economy’s greater resilience to the pandemic means that restrictions that are reimposed will do less damage than in the past. The CEBR believes inflation will be the top issue countries will need to deal with in the next few years.
