WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement put into reality

Under the Plan, before TFA takes effect, competent agencies will have to popularize the Agreement in accordance with Viet Nam's commitments with the WTO; early craft handbooks and issue guiding documents on TFA regulations and obligations; and support enterprises and relevant sides to grasp TFA opportunities; seek technical supports from international organizations like the WTO, WB, WCO, UNCTAD, ADB, and developed countries such as the U.S., the UK, Japan, and Australia.

The Plan consists of specific tasks on (1) transparency by building a national electric portal on trade, customs, business facilitation, local and central coordination mechanisms; (2) fees and procedures; (3) transit freedom; (4) customs cooperation; (5) special and different treatment; (6) institutions.

In December 2013, WTO member countries unanimously endorsed the TFA at the conclusion of the Ninth WTO Ministerial Conference in Bali, Indonesia.

The TFA does not become effective until two-thirds of WTO members have completed their domestic ratification process./.
