Xi Jinping re-elected China’s president for a third term

Xi Jinping, 69, was unanimously elected as China's president for a third term and chairman of the Central Military Commission on Friday at the ongoing session of the parliament in Beijing.

China’s Party and State leaders and nearly 3,000 members of China's parliament, the National People's Congress, attended the election in the Great Hall of the People.

Zhao Leji, 66, was elected the new parliament chair and Han Zheng, 68, was elected the new vice president.

In March 2018, the parliament passed a constitutional amendment abolishing a presidential two-term limit.
