Forest product exports reach 17 billion USD in 2022

Vietnam earned nearly 17 billion USD from the export of forest products in 2022, up 6.1% compared to 2021.

Bui Chinh Nghia, Deputy Head of the General Department of Forestry, said that despite the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic, the export of wood and forest products continued to grow thanks to the government’s direction and efforts of enterprises.

The US, Japan, China, the EU, and South Korea are Vietnam’s main export markets, accounting for over 90% of the total export value of forest products. In 2023 the sector aims at a forestry production growth rate of 5-5.5%; the national forest coverage rate at around 42%; and an export value of 17.5 billion USD.
