Hanoi leader urges greater quality in medical examination and treatment (17:33 25/02/2023)

Saint Paul General Hospital, a first category hospital located in Hanoi, has 870 beds and a workforce of over 1,000 employees, specializing in 7 areas. The hospital has undergone extensive renovation and equipment upgrades with the backing of the city leadership, resulting in a significant improvement in medical examination and treatment quality and the introduction of new medical facilities and services.

This has led to a remarkable increase in the number of patients examined and admitted, with over 550,000 patients examined and over 60,000 admitted in 2022 alone, surpassing the targets by 136.3% and 116%, respectively.

In congratulating the staff, doctors, and personnel of Saint Paul General Hospital, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen acknowledged the hospital’s hundred-year legacy of growth and development. The hospital’s success in meeting the healthcare needs of the people of Hanoi has been recognized by the city leadership and residents, cementing its status as a premier healthcare facility in the city.

Over the past 3 years, Saint Paul General Hospital has played the dual role of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and continuing to provide medical services to patients. During the pandemic, the hospital’s medical team and physicians demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment, earning the respect and admiration of the Hanoi population and government.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee acknowledged the challenges faced by the hospital in procuring medical equipment during the peak period of the pandemic However, with the support of the government and the solidarity of the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and staff, the hospital has focused on improving the quality of healthcare and developing its human resources to meet the increasing healthcare needs of the community.

The hospital aims to prioritize patient care and treatment through their “Putting the patient at the center of care and treatment” goal. By 2022, the hospital’s patient satisfaction rate was 80-90%, while it continued to provide adequate care for staff, doctors, and medical personnel, ensuring an average of VND22 million per month. The hospital has also made strides in administrative reform and IT application in medical examination and treatment.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee is confident that the hospital’s Party Committee, Board of Directors, staff, doctors, and medical personnel will continue to uphold the hospital’s excellent tradition and reputation within the Capital Health sector, and implement the noble medical ethics standards inspired by Uncle Ho’s teaching.

The hospital plans to focus on developing high-tech and selective spearhead techniques and invest in human resources and expertise to transform the Emergency Center of Saint Paul General Hospital into a reliable address within the City’s emergency system.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee urged the hospital to improve administrative procedures and adopt IT applications for digital transformation. The aim is to enhance the quality of medical examination and treatment and people’s healthcare by shortening the process. The hospital should focus on training and international cooperation, as well as strengthening cooperation between institutes and schools. It is also important to invest in infrastructure, medical equipment, modern techniques, high expertise, and the welfare of staff, doctors, medical personnel, and workers. The Standing Deputy Secretary is confident that with the continued support of the City and the Department of Health, Saint Paul General Hospital will successfully fulfill its tasks, achieve its plans, and gain the trust of the community in 2023.
