IMF says Vietnam’s growth will be highest in ASEAN-5

Vietnam’s GDP is set to grow 3.8% this year, the highest rate among the five major Southeast Asian economies, the International Monetary Fund has forecast.

Asia’s GDP is set to grow 6.5%, driven by India (10% against -7.3% last year) and China (8% against 2.3% last year).

Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia are likely to achieve growth of 3.5% or less. Last year those four countries reported negative growth, while Vietnam grew 2.9%.
