– Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the
Vietnamese NA arrived at Jose Marti, airport in Havana on April 18 afternoon (Cuba time), starting his
official visit to Cuba at the invitation of President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba
Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
Chairman Hue and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by Deputy President of the National
Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Ana Maria Mari Machado, head of the Department of International

Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Emilio Lozada Garcia, and head of
the Cuban National Assembly’s Commission on Foreign Relations Yolanda Ferrer Gomez, and
Vietnamese Ambassador to Vietnam Le Thanh Tung, among others.Read full text
– Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight at the
development of Vietnam-Austria ties during a reception in Hanoi on April 18 for Austrian Federal
Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg.
Man said both sides have maintained the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially those at high
level. Two-way trade hit 3.35 billion USD in 2021, up 5.5% annually. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the
figure hit 2.79 billion USD last year, down 16.7% year-on-year.Read full text
– Permanent Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal
People’s Committee Phan Van Mai hosted a reception on April 18 for CEO of Korea CEO Summit (KCS)
Park Bong-kyu to discuss the organisation of the CICON 2023, an international conference that combines
the initials of Creative Urban, Culture, Convergence and Industry.
Park said KCS, which gathers over 8,000 CEOs from over 8,000 member companies in various areas to
discuss advanced management strategies, information and knowledge, wants to jointly hold activities
and embark on projects in the city in the near future. He added that KCS hopes to organise the CICON
2023 in HCM City in June on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-
Republic of Korea (RoK) diplomatic ties. The event expects to draw the attendance of about 100 Korean

– The Ministry of Construction has proposed the Government allow foreigners to buy and own houses in
Vietnam in the draft Housing Law (amended).
However, in the draft law, expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and
discussion at its 5th session in May and approval at its 6th session, foreigners are not permitted to own

– Despite declines in the export of some agricultural products, overseas shipments of fruits and
vegetables remain positive, promising a bright prospect in the second quarter of 2023.
Vietnam exported nearly 1 billion USD worth of fruits and vegetables in Q1, rising 7% from a year earlier,
reported the Centre for Digital Transformation and Statistics under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural

– A seminar on French literature is scheduled to take place on April 25 at the National Library of Vietnam
in Hanoi as part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomacy (1973-2023).
Dr. Tran Van Cong of Hanoi University and Dr. Tran Le Bao Chau of Ho Chi Minh City University of

– The northern border province of Cao Bang is building a plan for the pilot opening of the landscape site
of Ban Gioc (Vietnam) – Detian (China) Waterfalls in October 2023, local officials informed at a workshop
on April 18.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the provincial People’s Committee held the workshop to discuss the
pilot opening of the landscape site for tourism, which has been delayed due to several difficulties. Part
of the waterfalls, called Ban Gioc by the Vietnamese side and Detian by the Chinese side, is located in
Vietnam while the other in China.Read full text
– The central province of Quang Tri has completed a survey of cluster bomb remnants in all accessible
areas since its launch eight years ago, reported Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) Vietnam on April 18.
Specifically, NPA Vietnam has identified a total of 1,270 hazardous areas with a total land coverage of
615 sq. km contaminated with cluster bombs. Some 173 sq. km have been cleared by international non-
governmental organisations and the provincial military high command, and the remainder are being
