The funeral of pilot Tran Ngoc Duy, who died in a plane training crash in the northern province of Yen Bai on Tuesday, was held in the province on Wednesday. At the funeral, the Ministry of Defense announced the decision to promote Duy’s rank from Captain to Major Colonel posthumously. Tran Ngoc Duy was born in 1992 and lived in Yen Bai city. He majored in military aircraft flying, Air Force Officer School. Before his death, Duy was the Deputy Squadron Leader, Chief of Staff of Squadron 1 of Air Force Regiment 921, Division 371 of the Air and Air Defense Force.

The accident happened and the pilot died while trying to land the Su-22 jet during a training flight in Yen Bai province on Tuesday noon.
