Prime Minister meets Secretary General of the Francophone

 Vietnam treasures cooperation with the Francophone community and advocates active contribution to common Francophone activities, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at Friday meeting with Secretary General of the Francophone Organization, Louise Mushikiwabo, at the organization’s headquarters.

The Prime Minister suggested the Francophone adopt specific solutions to strengthen economic cooperation among member countries, creating conditions for poorer countries to develop and integrate into the global economy.

He emphasized that Vietnam has joined 17 free trade agreements and has FTAs with 60 economies, including a number of Francophone economies, which is a favorable condition for Vietnam to forge closer economic cooperation. Vietnam is willing to promote cooperation in agriculture and  telecommunications and open up many other areas of cooperation with Francophone countries.

At the meeting, both leaders witnessed the signing of Letters of Intent between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture of Gabon on cooperation in coffee production and export and between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Francophone International Organization on the establishment of a South-South Cooperation Center and tripartite cooperation.
