Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Western countries that Russia will strike new targets if the West begins giving Ukraine longer-range missiles. US President Joe Biden has announced plans to give Ukraine precision HIMARS rocket systems after receiving assurances from Kyiv that it would not use them to hit targets inside Russia.

Russian officials have warned that the US move could exacerbate the conflict.
