UN applauds Vietnam’s capacity in peacekeeping force

Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, has praised Vietnam’s participation in the UN Peacekeeping Force, especially in the construction of level-2 field hospitals in South Sudan. In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency, Lacroix said that with these field hospitals, peacekeeper soldiers can feel more secure doing their job.

He said the UN will work with Vietnam to deploy Vietnam’s first sapper unit to the UN peacekeeping force in the oil-rich Abyei area  between Sudan and South Sudan.

Lacroix said he believes Vietnam will meet the criteria required by the UN for the peacekeeping mission.
