Vietnam, Cuba cooperate in COVID-19 vaccine technology transfer

 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a reception for Cuban Ambassador Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén in Hanoi on Thursday, during which Mr. Chinh underlined Vietnam’s relationship of friendship and trust with Cuba. He noted that Vietnam and Cuba are working together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic while reinforcing cooperation in all fields.

Prime Minister Chinh stressed the need to cooperate and share experience in clinical trials, licensing, and transfer of Cuba’s COVID-19 vaccine production technology in Vietnam as agreed by the two countries.

Ambassador Guillén promised to do all he can to strengthen the traditional friendship, solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and mutual trust between the two Parties, States, Governments, and peoples, especially in hard times. He vowed to coordinate closely with relevant agencies of both sides to promote COVID-19 vaccine production in Vietnam.

Following the reception, Prime Minister Chinh presided over a ceremony to hand over 10,000 tons of rice from Vietnam to Cuba. The Hanoi municipal Party Committee presented 2,000 tons of rice from Hanoi to Havana.
