Asians living in the US face hate and racism

More than 11,000 hate incidents targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the US occurred between March 19, 2020, and March 31, 2022, according to a report by the research and advocacy group Stop AAPI Hate. Racism can manifest itself in many different forms, including civil rights violations, online racism, and violence. Of the types of harassment included in the report, the majority (66%) of the incidents were verbal or written hate speech.

According to the report, 1 out of 9 cases involved civil rights violations, such as discrimination in the workplace, while 10% of recorded incidents occurred on online platforms.

The report said acts of hate occur everywhere in the US, from urban to rural areas, where Asian-Americans live. California recorded the most cases of racism against Asians, followed by New York and Washington.
